About "Archives and Human Rights News"
Jens Boel
Chief Archivist, UNESCO
24 October 2008
This Newsletter aims at sharing information about professional archival work and reflections in the field of "Archives and Human Rights".
It is a communication tool of the ICA Working Group on Archives and Human Rights, which was established after the CITRA in Cape Town in 2003 with the mandate of following up on the resolutions adopted at that conference. The Executive Board of the International Council on Archives decided at its meeting in Vienna from 9-10 October 2008 to give a more official status to this Working Group by assigning some major tasks to it as an ICA "Special Interest Group", by establishing a reporting mechanism and by providing the Working Group with official meeting facilities at CITRAs and Congresses. You will find attached the full text of this approved document in English and French. The present Bureau of the Working Group is composed of Anna Svenson (Chair), Trudy Huskamp Peterson (Vice-chair) and Gabrielle Nishiguchi (Secretary) -- not Anne Perotin as stated in the attached document. • Status of the Archives and Human Rights Working GroupStatus du Groupe de travail sur les archives et les droits de l'homme
