About the Multimedia archives
The UNESCO Multimedia Archives make available to the public audio-visual material, such as documentaries, fiction, interviews, speeches and promotional material created by the Organization or related to its history and programme activities.
The Multimedia Archives service also provides storage for physical and electronic audio-visual records, assuring in the process their safeguarding and preservation, as well as facilitating the search, retrieval and consultation of these records through the Internet, or on-site in the Archives reading room.

More and more audiovisual content will be available online as digitization progresses. If the item you're interested in is not online at this time, you can either make an appointment to consult it in our premises, or you can send us a request and will inform you ASAP when we have published either a sample or the entirety of the content. Use this contact form to send us your request.
This audiovisual material may be embedded on a website for educational, non-commercial purposes, provided that it is accompanied by an acknowledgement of UNESCO as the source ( © UNESCO). It would be greatly appreciated if UNESCO could be informed of the use made of its programmes.
Before you use any of these material, however, keep also in mind that: ALL UNESCO AUDIOVISUAL CONTENT MUST BE SHOWN WITH CREDITS AND UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES CAN SHOTS OR SEQUENCES BE USED IN OTHER PROGRAMMES WITHOUT PRIOR NEGOTIATION AND WRITTEN AUTHORIZATION OF UNESCO.
For further information, refer to our Terms of use as well as to the Rights and permissions regarding UNESCO documents and publications, or contact us if you have not found the answer to your specific case.
There are several reasons for this. The first one is a practical one and has to do with the length of the video. Long videos can indeed be very demanding of bandwidth, slowing down your Internet connection and, therefore, transform you experience into a long waiting session. That is why if the video is, say, more than 30 minutes long, chances are that we will be posting a sample, rather than the full version.
A second reason is that in some cases copyright or ownership restrictions prevent us from publishing the full content online. In such cases we offer you a sample to help you decide if you want to see the full content, in which case you would have contact us to organize a session for you.
Finally, the material could have also be marked as "Restricted" (see below).
An item is marked restricted when it can be consulted from within the Organization only. Please note that other type of restrictions may also apply
