As part of the celebrations of the first International Jazz Day, eight greats of the gender gave master classes at UNESCO headquarters.

Herbie Hancock, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Marcus Miller and Barbara Hendricks among others talked about how they became jazz musicians, as well as about the people that inspired and helped them when they started.

In this master class, Herbie Hancock tells us about his experience working with Miles Davis and Donald Byrd and discusses the origins of "Watermelon man", which he wrote 50 years ago
