The Children of Bassac

Language: English

Under the Khmer Rouge, Cambodian performing arts were nearly lost forever during the 1970's. Master performing artists who survived are now supported by the Phnom Penh-based NGO Cambodian Living Arts, preserving their craft and training the next generation of student artists. The Children of Bassac is a company of 24 dancers aged 16 to 21 from the Bassac community. They perform traditional and folk dances representing Khmer life and have traveled the world via Cambodian Living Arts. CLA projects are supported in part by UNESCO
