In 2009, UNESCO supported India's Society for Community Intervention and Resarch (SCIR) to establish the project "Mainstreaming of recovering drug users with vocational education and livelihood skills through capacity development programmes'. The aims of this project is to ensure the social and economics reintegration of drug users through education. The focus was on strenghthening partnerships and widening the network of educational providers, so that participants could benefit from good basic and vocational eduction opportunities.
