The concept of the global village, which implies communication between all peoples and cultures on the planet depends on the people wanting to communicate in the first place. All too often people all over the world, specifically those from developing countries, are afraid to reach ot to different cultures, fearing that contact with people radically different from themselvs will result in the dilution of their customs and traditions. They are, in effect, "leaving the box".
