JANUARY
CULTURE
(January
8 to 19, Hall Ségur) Exhibition “Pictorial
Art and Calligraphy of Contemporary China –
Chinese Light through the Century”
The exhibition, organised under the auspices of
the Chinese Culture Ministry, features some 100
works by 19 great painters and calligraphers
from 15 provinces and municipalities.
Traditional Chinese painting favours suggestive
and lyrical representation and each painting
lends itself to one or several allegorical
interpretations. Chinese calligraphy endows
abstract idiograms with a poetic and pictorial
message. The exhibition is representative of the
various styles and trends of Chinese art today.
The opening will take place on January 8.
