"Promoting Peace and Security through Education and Science: Elements for a UN Strategy against Terrorism: UNESCO’s Contribution" (February 2002)
This concept paper was prepared as a background to the United Nations Inter-Agency Meeting held at UNESCO Headquarters on 26 February 2003 on “Promoting Peace and Security through Education and Science: Elements for a UN Strategy against Terrorism”. This meeting, organized in cooperation with the UN Department of Political Affairs and the Education Sector's Division for the Promotion of Quality Education, was held as an initial response to Recommendations 10 and 21 of the Report of the Secretary-General’s Policy Working Group on the United Nations and Terrorism. The paper highlights five key areas in which UNESCO conducts activities to promote peace and security through international cooperation in education and science.
