Preservation of cultural heritage

The actions and projects concerning cultural heritage, developed by the voluntary work organisations, allow the participation of non specialists in such a field. The purpose of these actions is to involve non qualified persons and young people, from any background, in cultural heritage preservation. They have an important pedagogical value.

These restoration activities, led by professionals, also aim at initiating and training in restoration techniques, and developing them.

CCIVS activities and enrolment of volunteers for the preservation of this common world cultural heritage contribute to the awareness for the value and importance of its preservation.

The work camps organised for this purpose also contribute to the promotion of Peace and to intercultural contacts and dialog. They gather people from different countries and gender around a common project requiring efforts and involvement.

The preservation of cultural heritage is not a goal in itself. It's first of all a mix of will and actions, encouraging personal development, exchanges, respect and tolerance. For a few years now, CCIVS has been organising, in co-operation with the cultural division of UNESCO, numerous work camps for the preservation of cultural heritage.

International volunteer exchanges promote international dialogue and the resolution of conflicts. In Africa, the Middle East and Europe, seminars, workshops and projects have involved participants from both sides of a conflict to meet with others to share their experiences and views as a step towards peace.

The escalation of conflicts
has increased the number of refugees in many parts of the world. In refugee camps, volunteers provide daily support, making easier the lives of those forced to flee their homes. Through social projects related to human rights and minorities, young people have the opportunity to reach an entirely new dimension of human relations.
