Campaigns

Campaigns
are common projects in which CCIVS member organisations all over the world are working together to participate in de-centralised regional and international actions. Such actions create a sense of belonging to the voluntary service movement through a joint reflection on global issues. These actions address different issues such as Solidarity, Youth, Peace and non-violence.

The 10th July 2000 was declared "CCIVS Culture of Peace Day". Messages of Peace were created in different local projects and sent to the two flagship events of CCIVS. The events, run by CCIVS member organisations, took place in Hiroshima, Japan and Bethlehem, Palestine, promoting world peace through an international workcamp and a seminar discussing tools for peace. The 40m² Peace Quilt made up of the 100 "Peace Pieces" was exposed at UNESCO Headquarters in November 2000 (see picture).

The following decade (2001 - 2010) was declared International Decade for a Culture of Peace
(see the site).

The year 2001 has been declared The International Year of Volunteers (IYV) by the General Assembly of the United Nations on the 20th of november 1997. For this occasion, these international organisations decided to organise a one year campaign (see the link).
