At the beginning of each
session, on the proposal of the Nominations Committee, the General Conference elects a
President and 36 Vice-Presidents, and constitutes the committees and commissions that are
necessary for the conduct of its work. The choice of Vice-Presidents is meant to ensure
the representative character of the General Committee.
Each Committee elects its Chairperson, with the exception of the
General Committee, which is chaired by the President of the General Conference.
The committees of the General Conference are:
 |
the Credentials
Committee, which consists of nine members elected by the General
Conference on the proposal of the Temporary President; |
 |
the Nominations
Committee, which consists of the heads of all delegations entitled to vote
in the General Conference; |
 |
the Legal
Committee, which consists of 21 members elected by the General Conference
at its preceding session; |
 |
the Headquarters
Committee, which consists of 25 members elected by the General Conference
at its preceding session. The geographical distribution of the seats shall reflect that of
the Executive Board. |

Committee, which consists of the President, the Vice-Presidents and the
Chairpersons of the committees and commissions of the General Conference. |
Each Commission also elects its own Chairperson, four Vice-Presidents
