Election of Members of the Governing Board of the UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS)

At its 30th session, the General Conference elected, in accordance with Article IV, paragraph 1 (a) of the Statutes of the UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS)  approved at this session, the following experts to be members of the Governing Board of the UIS :

Mr Farid El-Boustani* Ms Maria Helena Guimaraes de Castro Mr Jasper Mani* Mr Hong-wei Meng Mr Josef Maria Mathias Ritzen* Mr Zdenek Vesely

Syrian Arab Republic Brazil Kenya China Netherlands Czech Republic

The Governing Board of the UIS consists of 12 members sitting in their personal capacity.  The General Conference elected six members, the other six being designated by the Director-General.  Following the drawing of lots at the 8th meeting of the Nominations Committee on 11 November 1999, the Members indicated by an asterisk will serve until 31 December 2001, the other until 31 December 2003.
