of UNESCO, 1945)
The UNESCO Chair of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki on
Education for Human Rights and Peace organises an International Conference on the topic:
"Towards a Culture of Human Rights and Peace-The Role of
Universities"
The Conference will be held in Thessaloniki, December 2-4, 1999, at the
Aristotle University (Ceremony Hall, at the Old Building of the Faculty of Philosophy) and
inaugurates the UNESCO Chair activities for the celebration of 2000-International
Year for the Culture of Peace.
The Conference aims at the creation, in the broader area of
South-Eastern Europe, of a large network of University Schools, UNESCO Chairs, Research
Institutes, Non-Governmental Organizations etc. working on programs of education, teaching
and research related to the Culture of Peace. The invited speakers of the Conference are
UNESCO officials, UNESCO Chairholders, Directors of Research Institutes, Rectors and
Professors of Universities.
The participation in the Conference is free and on-line
translation will be provided.
