Scholarship Offer – Associates Program


The African Gender Institute (AGI) has received funding from the Rockefeller Foundation to re-activate its Associates Program. The Program offers a limited number of African women the opportunity to be based at the University of Cape Town while completing a writing project of their own choice and design within the framework of gender equity and social transformation.

The Associateship is for a three-month period from either May to August, 2000 or September to December 2000. Candidates are required to obtain the "normination" of an authorative figure who is familiar with their work such as a Dean or Head of Department at a tertiary level institution, an employer or government official.

Interested women should send the following information to the African Gender Institute:

  1. Full name and Title
  2. Date of birth
  3. Nationality
  4. Country of residence
  5. Preferred date of entry: May 2000 or September 2000
  6. Title of proposed work
  7. Special requirements: e.g. access to specialized library, computer or other equipment
  8. Present contact details: mailing address, phone, fax, email
  9. Name, title and contact details of nominating person
  10. Signature of applicant
  11. Signature of nominator
