Projects recently completed

A number of projects have been completed since the start of the new year. They include:
HIV/AIDS Project Management Capacity Building for Youth Groups, Grenada
The Youth Empowerment Foundation of Grenada Inc. led by Samuel Antoine, Quasi Andrew and Clifton Nedd developed a project that was aimed at preparing community based youth groups to play an effective role in HIV and AIDS Programme at the local level. The Foundation is now in the process of developing its work-plan for 2008.
In the immediate, the Foundation has forged a partnership with the Grenada Arts Council. The two organizations will be collaborating to engage youth groups in the creation of public artwork using recycled materials over the next 8 months...>> More information
Let's fight HIV/AIDS together, Papua New Guinea
Norman Wai and the Foundation for Young People implemented an HIV/AIDS awareness campaign with the aim of minimising and reducing the spread of HIV/AIDS in the Western Highlands Province of Papua New Guinea.
The project involved disseminating HIV/AIDS information to 29 institutions in the Western Highlands Province. The group is hopeful of continuing the project in the future by improving their presentations to include include drama, poetry, storytelling, video shows, puppetry or oral discussions about HIV/AIDS and its impacts... >> More information
Beautify the Village of Avatele Oneonepata, Niue
Mellisa Talagi and the Avatale Youth Group implemented a project to develop a clean and safe environment for the community and to implement a beautification program. The goal was to have three villages working together in keeping the villages clean... >> More information
Tonga National Canoe Festival, Tonga
Led by Vanessa Tui'one, the Tonga National Youth Congress in partnership with master carver Sitiveni Fehoko organised the first Tongan National Canoe Festival 1-13 October 2007. The aim of the festival was to revive the almost lost art of Tongan canoe carving and to celebrate Tonga’s canoe history.
All the carving participants considered the festival a valuable experience and would encourage the youth of their island groups to participate in the next festival.
