On the Spot forging ahead despite challenges
24 July 2006

The van is already painted and we are attracting much attention as we are driving on the road but it recently broke down again. The shirts are all done and it looks good so there are 100 yellow MDG shirts which will soon be on the streets, in the homes and on the backs of 100 lucky youth. Our first radio show was supposed to premier last week on the 19th. We were ready but the radio station was not. The show was cancelled from the AM station and played about 15 minutes late on FM and then cut short. This week’s show is cancelled due to a 10 day ban that has been placed on all shows because of the recent death of our prince. In the meantime we are still preparing our shows and trying to get experience and training in editing the material.

Success story of the week: a dedicated team member from one of the outer villages who has found he can’t help us out with the show as much because he lives too far out has decided to take awareness into his own hands and will be starting workshops in his village with the unemployed youth every weekend… and we think we have a venue to hold regular performances it the future - actual youth implemented shows!!! We are busy looking for other sources of funding towards our dream of setting up something more lasting and sustainable for youth by youth.
