is an organisation in Zanzibar with the main goal of improving the quality of both primary and secondary education in the Makunduchi Constituency.

Theme:
Life and Love in Islands - Island lifestyles and
culture
Background:
Minimize rate of HIV/AIDS infections/transmission
and stigmatization
Objectives:
- Increase knowledge and advocate issues of HIV/AIDS
in schools environment
- Share
knowledge and experiences on issues relating to
HIV/AIDS amongst participants
- Reduce
stigmatization and discrimination to people living
with HIV/AIDS in the community
- Change
the sex behaviour practices among young people
(especially school going youth)
Activities:
- Plan, organize and hold a competition
among youth for a song/jingle highlighting HIV/AIDS
issues, seek sponsorship for prizes, and broadcast
the winning songs on local media;
- Plan, organize and hold
two panel discussions on HIV/AIDS issues, involving
youth from local peer counselling groups, and
broadcast the panel sessions on local media;
- Organise viewing of films
relating to HIV/AIDS followed by discussion and
conduct mini-lecture sessions accompanied by role-plays
for students in nine schools;
- Evaluate the impact of the activity
by asking youths to complete a survey on their
knowledge of HIV/AIDS before the activities; and
after these activities; analyse and report on
the results of the evaluation;
- Investigate and report on ways
of continuing this activity in the future.

"So far we have completed all preliminary assigments of the project; that is communication with school authorities (District Education office and school leaders), communication with consultants/facilitators, pre and post questionnaire. Currently the team is collecting the necessary equipment and material for the activities which are proposed to be conducted starting from 2nd week of March after the film appreciation by ZAC on the 1st week of March 2007."
