Here at Mead’s Bay,
Anguilla, there was extensive beach and dune erosion during Hurricane
Luis in 1995, the dunes were eroded back 30 metres (98 ft) in places.

These same dunes were
extensively mined for construction sand in the 1980s, thus they were
lowered and the vegetation was removed leaving them vulnerable to future
hurricanes. |
