Slide 45: Villas on reclaimed land, Peter Island, British Virgin Islands, after Hurricane Hugo

Similarly at Peter Island, there was extensive damage to some hotel villas after Hurricane Hugo in 1989.  However, these villas had been built on reclaimed land, and during Hurricane Hugo, Nature claimed back the land, which had been taken from the sea.
