The Republic of Cameroon

A scientist from Cameroon attended a workshop (co-sponsored by CSI, the Programme on Man and the Biosphere, MAB and the World Heritage Committee, WHC) on ‘Awareness-building and Training on Biodiversity Conservation in Natural World Heritage Sites of West and Central Africa’ (Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, June, 1996). A specialist from Cameroon attended the MAB co-sponsored ‘Regional Conference on Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Development’ (Dakar, Senegal, October 1996). Two students from Cameroon attended the ‘First Regional Workshop of WinBilko Authors and Users’ held in St. Petersburg, Russian Federation in December 1997. An expert from Cameroon attended a regional workshop held in Togo on the ‘Methodology of Data Collection for Coastal Management’ in February 1998.

The UNESCO Communication and Education Sectors, and the UNESCO Dakar, Maputo, Nairobi and Pretoria Offices jointly organized a workshop on ‘Education and Communication for Sustainable Coastal Development’ as part of the ‘Pan-African Conference on Sustainable Integrated Coastal Management (PACSICOM)’ held in Maputo in July 1998. The proceedings of the workshop were published, in English and French, as CSI info 7 (1999): ‘The Role of Communication and Education for Sustainable Coastal Development’. Two of the discussion papers were given by experts from Cameroon
