The Republic of Estonia
A specialist from Estonia attended a workshop (co-sponsored by the Culture Sector of UNESCO and the World Heritage Committee) on ‘Environment and Development in the Coastal Zone of the Eastern Baltic’ (Suomenlinna, Finland, May 1996).
Seven Estonian specialists participated in the CSI-sponsored Russia-Estonia coastal studies in the Hiiumaa biosphere reserve (August, 1996), and three students took part in advanced training at the Baltic Floating University facility, co-sponsored by the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission and the Baltic Marine Environment Protection Commission.
Two specialists from Estonia participated in the UNESCO conference on ‘Sustainable Development of Coastal Resources in the Nordic and Baltic Countries’. The Norwegian National Commission for UNESCO organized the conference, held in Fredrikstad, Norway, in May 1999.
