The Republic of the Gambia
A specialist from the Gambia attended the Programme on Man and the Biosphere (MAB) co-sponsored regional conference on ‘Biodiversity, Conservation and Sustainable Development’ (Dakar, Senegal, October 1996). Following the country’s request, a consultant was sent to the Gambia (August 1997) to study the coastal erosion situation and draft a proposal on coastal protection measures.
