The Islamic Republic of Mauritania
A student from Mauritania attended courses at the newly established ‘UNESCO Chair in Integrated Coastal Management and Sustainable Development’ at the University of Dakar, Senegal (1997-1998). He graduated from the course in November 1998. A second student attended courses from January to November 1999. A third student attended a one-year post-graduate course on sustainable coastal development in 2000. The course included field trips; one survey site was Mauritania’s Park Banc d’Arguin.
