2. Composite graph showing beach profiles measured between 1994 and 1999

The graph shows different beach profiles at Morris Bay measured between 1994 and 1999.  In 1994 the beach had a width of 18 m.  After Hurricane Luis, in September 1995, the beach was lowered in height by about 1 m and narrowed to 10 m in width.  The beach did not recover to pre-hurricane levels.

3. Line graph showing the trends in profile area and profile width over time

This graph shows how the beach at Morris Bay has varied over time.  The line with diamond markers represents profile cross-sectional area and the line with square markers shows the width of the beach profile.  As a result of Hurricane Luis in September 1995, profile area decreased from 33 m2 to 9 m2, and profile width decreased from 20 m to 10 m.  Again, the graph shows clearly that while there was some recovery in the years following Hurricane Luis, the beach did not return to its pre-hurricane levels.
