Abstract
This paper provides an insight into the work of the OECS's Natural Resources Management Unit (NRMU) in the area of marine and coastal resources management. It illustrates the fact that regional institutions have to be flexible enough to adjust their modus operandi, if necessary, to assist countries in addressing their increasingly complex environmental problems. The NRMU's Coastal Resources Management Initiative (CRMI) is also discussed as well as how this has been translated into a framework for the adoption of an Island System Management approach to resource use in the OECS sub-region.
