New UNESCO (CSI) series are launched

First issues: beach management in the Caribbean

Two new series have been launched by UNESCO'S CSI platform. They are intended for distribution to counterparts, offices and institutions involved in or particularly relevant to the CSI endeavour. The first volumes in each series communicate, respectively, (i) the major results and (ii) the papers of a workshop entitled: "Integrated Framework for the Management of Beach Resources within the Smaller Caribbean Islands". The event was held 21-25 October 1996 at the Mayagüez Campus of University of Puerto Rico (UPR) and was sponsored by UPR and its Sea Grant College Program (SGCP) jointly with UNESCO (via the latter's Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission and CSI).

The workshop results have been published by UNESCO, under the same title as the workshop, as the first volume of the series entitled "CSI info". It is available in hard copy and is also on this website

The workshop papers were finalized by SGCP and were printed by UPR in co-publication with UNESCO, and are available under the title "Managing beach resources in the smaller Caribbean Islands", as the first volume in the Organization's new series entitled "Coastal region and small island papers". This volume is distributed both by UNESCO and UPR/SGCP .
