Andres at Mauritius Strategy Implementation - Small Islands Voice
Planning Meeting, July 2005
San Andres
was represented at this meeting by Ms Elizabeth Taylor, Director
of the Corporation for the Sustainable Development of San Andres,
Providence and Santa Catalina (CORALINA).
In her presentation
she described Small
Islands Voice activities in the SEAFLOWER Biosphere Reserve.
Activities include a schools radio programme, environmental camps,
the development of a marine curriculum for schools, and raising
awareness among the general public about the biosphere reserve.
She also described an exchange
visit with Cuba during which a specialist from CORALINA worked
with the Havana Province Physical Planning Department in Cuba
to involve communities on the coast of Havana Province in monitoring
and caring for their beaches.
