CARIBBEAN - San Andres Archipelago (Colombia) Activities

Recycling Day, 17th May 2005 Old Providence and Santa Catalina

Recycling Day was celebrated in the islands of Old Providence and Santa Catalina on 17th May 2005. Several schools, community and environmental groups, and the general public joined together for a day of activities. These included dramatic presentations on mangroves and the type of garbage people dump there; stalls exhibiting clothes and other items made out of recycled material; musical presentations; posters and slogans about recycling; and the recycling queens wearing clothes made out of recycled material. A report has been prepared documenting the activities in words and photos.
