CARIBBEAN - The Bahamas Activities

Bahamas at Mauritius Strategy Implementation - Small Islands Voice Planning Meeting, July 2005

The Bahamas were represented at this meeting by Ms Portia Sweeting of the Ministry of Education.

Visiting the Old Hegg Turtle Sanctuary

During the meeting she made a presentation about Small Islands Voice activities in the Bahamas, including the Youth Focus event in January 2004, the survey of five of the Family Islands, and the participation of two Bahamian schools in the UNESCO Community Sandwatch Competition in 2005. She also discussed other ongoing youth activities in the Bahamas such as camping and boating excursions, school gardens and composting, and a beach buddy programme.
