The
Corporation for the Sustainable Development of the Archipelago
of San Andrés, Old Providence and Santa Catalina (CORALINA)
has two documentation centres, one in San Andrés and one
in Old Providence. These centres are open to the general
public and students. (The centre in San Andrés will be
moved in mid-2003 to a more central location).
Small
Islands Voice, together with other partners, is assisting
in strengthening these documentation centres by providing
additional computer equipment. Training is also provided
to specific groups such as fishers, farmers, Adopt-a-beach
groups in the use of new information and communication
technologies so that they can take part in the 'information
age' and share in the wealth of knowledge, international
development fora and programmes, and even the important
social validation that comes from exchanging similar experiences
and learning from others.

Since
2003, the documentation centre has been moved twice, however
it still fulfils important functions by housing information
and providing a place for school and other groups to meet.
