On
2nd June 2004, a Small Islands Voice Internet centre was opened
in Nevis. This followed the opening of a similar
centre in St. Kitts in July 2003. This Internet Centre will
allow young people without access to computers and the internet
at home to connect with island youth elsewhere in the world and
for them to play an important role in the Small Islands Voice
initiative. In an opening ceremony, Mrs. Lornette Manners, Principal
Education Officer in Nevis declared the centre open, and addresses
were also given by Mr. Antonio Maynard, Secretary General of the
UNESCO National Commission and Mr. Halstead Byron, SIV Coordinator
in Nevis, see also a press release.
