Backchat
Newsletter
The
Backchat programme seeks 'to lend a voice to the many problems
facing the Federation' using existing and new media. The print
media are being used to produce newsletters that include articles,
poems, letters to the editor and puzzles to highlight key issues.
The
first issue of the Backchat
newsletter, published in May 2004, focused on Crime and Violence:
Where does it begin and where does it end? This topic is a very
relevant one in St. Kitts and Nevis and relates back to an opinion
survey of the general public that was conducted by youth in
2002. This survey found that increased crime and violence was
the most pressing issue of concern to the general public.
The
second edition
of the Back Chat newsletter, published in November 2004, focused
on the preparations for the Meeting for Small Island Developing
States held in January 2005 in Mauritius, and on the two youth
who would be representing the Federation at Youth Visioning for
Island Living.
