Participation
in a Hotel and Tourism Association meeting
Five
students and one teacher from the Small Islands Voice/Sandwatch
team were invited to the general meeting of the St. Vincent and
the Grenadines Hotel and Tourism Association, at the Gingerbread
Restaurant on Bequia, on 5th August 2003. A presentation was given
on the Sandwatch programme, and the team had the opportunity to
give their opinions on tourism and development issues.
The
gathering was quite impressed, and congratulated the team on their
work. The Director of Tourism has offered her support, and assistance.
The
Association has written a proposal to Disney Movies in relation
to the movie 'Pirates of the Caribbean' asking for assistance
in raising funds towards purchasing a boat, that would assist
in the monitoring and policing of Admiralty Bay, Bequia. This
would improve water safety and the tourism product. The team has
pledged their support for this project.
