Bequia,
3 February 2003
Small
Islands Voice was launched officially in St. Vincent and the
Grenadines on Monday 3rd February 2003. Students, teachers and
principals from the Bequia Community High School and the Bequia
Seventh Day Adventist Secondary School attended the official
launching. A multi-media presentation on the Small Islands Voice
project was given by Mr. Herman Belmar, National Coordinator
and teacher at the Bequia Community High School. This generated
a lot of interest and questions, and was reported
in the press.
In
St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Small Islands Voice activities
will focus on the country's youth, and will help them identify
their issues of concern and discuss them with young people in
islands around the world. Ultimately the project aims to facilitate
addressing these concerns. Another ongoing project, called Sandwatch,
which seeks to involve young people in the monitoring and management
of island beaches, will be incorporated into Small Islands Voice
activities in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
