Small
islands' voice needs to be louder
I
am referring to Sir James Mancham's letter in the Nation
dated January 12, 2004 concerning "The Vulnerabilities
of Small Islands Nations" as well as the Minister of Environment
& Nature Resources, Honorable Ronny Jumeau's closing speech
during the meeting for small island states which was held
at Mahe Beach from January 8 - 10.
The
two personalities have made some valuable statements concerning
small island states nations. I feel that such conference
is very important because the small islands states are
facing some serious difficulties and problems. Their voices
have to be louder and tougher for the big nations to listen
and help.
I
feel that people like Sir James Mancham and representatives
from non-governmental organisations should be given the
opportunity to participate in such conference even as
observers.
