School children sensitised on the prospects of an environmental career

Students from the Anse Royale Secondary School were given a careers guidance talk on the prospects of pursuing a career in the environmental field during a recent talk (July 2003) conducted by two of the Ministry of Environment's officers Mr. Alain De Comarmond and Mr. Rodney Quatre. The activity attracted a lot of interest on the part of the students. The students were briefed on the organization of the Ministry, the work of the different divisions and sections, and the qualifications or background one needs to work within the Ministry.

The talk was then followed by a short field demonstration, in which the students participated, on how to go about measuring beach profiles. The students were briefed also on the necessity of such an exercise and the beach monitoring programme which is now in place. The Ministry welcomes similar requests from other schools and educational institutions to conduct such talks in the future.
