The Praslin Experience!!!

The arrival of the Maldivian SIV youth in December 2004 can be described as an experience not to be forgotten. Despite my absence from the initial part of the activities which took place on Mahé, I certainly enjoyed the last few days here on Praslin as we got to discover various things together and befriended each other.

After arriving at the Baie Ste Anne jetty on Wednesday the 15th, our next stop was Alizé's home where we dined as we all secretly dreamt of what laid waiting for us in the days that would follow.

Our schedule was packed with visits to renowned locations here on Praslin namely the Praslin Ocean Pearl Farm, the Vallée de Mai and Anse Lazio where we had a superb picnic. Humour was always present. A cultural night was equally organised where both delegations demonstrated their cultures. We did not miss out on displaying the "Moutya" our traditional dance, of course. The Maldivian goodies on show were truly tasty.

Following these we crossed over to La Digue where we visited L'Union Estate and Anse Source D'Argent. Unfortunately there always comes a time when all the fun must end. After long goodbyes and tears we wished Hanni, Fatoun, Cidae, Mohammed, Moosa, Shanuha and Mr Hassan all the best. Nonetheless, we still keep in touch as we had exchanged phone numbers and home addresses. We all remain hopeful that we will see each other once more!
