UNESCO's
Youth Digital Arts Project
This project,
'Scenes and sounds of my city Digi
Arts' seeks to encourage young people to use digital tools
to discover their urban environment, share experiences about their
cities and create a digital journey which can be used to facilitate
the participation of young people in the community development
process.
The project
is being coordinated by UNESCO in Paris and the regional facilitator
in the Asia-Pacific region is Dr. Karen Malone, RMIT University,
Melbourne, Australia. She is working on this project with young
people in Fiji together with Live and Learn Environmental Education,
who are coordinating the Small Islands Voice internet-based youth
forum in that island.
The project
uses specially designed youth-friendly software that does not
require a high level of technology. This pilot project could become
a model for other Small Islands Voice youth teams and enhance
the Small Islands Voice internet-based youth forum by providing
the opportunity to manipulate and send images, stories and creative
ideas about their island homes.
