Linking
up with Banaban youth in Rabi Island, Fiji
At
the end of 2004, Abara Banaba, arranged with the Australian Government
and a non-governmental organization to donate 20 computers to
Rabi High School and to provide training to the students and teachers.
Small Islands Voice has assisted with transporting the computers
to Rabi Island. It is hope that eventually internet connections
can be established, and that the students can get involved in
the Small Islands Voice Youth Forum. More information is available

and a recent news article
describes how the Banabans who were expatriated from their home
island of Banaba or Ocean Islands by the British Government on
15 December 1945, are in 2005 applying for citizenship in Fiji.
