Moloka'i,
an island in the Hawaiian chain and part of the state of Hawai'i
(USA), is approximately 38 miles by 10 miles, and has three volcanoes.
The population is 7,000, mainly Hawaiians with some Filipinos
and Caucasians. Most of the land is privately owned and there
are some large-scale foreign land owners. Moloka'i is known for
its dominant Hawaiian cultural heritage, its unspoiled rural character,
and its natural beauty and resources. The Moloka'i Enterprise
Community has been assisting other islands with community visioning
initiatives within the framework of Small Islands Voice.
