Small Islands Voice Communication Links

As part of its programme to improve communication linkages amongst schools on Rarotonga and the outer islands the UNESCO Small Islands Voice Project is providing phone/fax/copier machines to those schools where such equipment had been lacking. Friday saw Cook Islands Small Islands Voice National Coordinator Bruce Gray present Rutaki School principal Mata Pepe with their new phone/fax copier.

"It is equally as important for small schools as well as schools with large enrollments to have the tools and resources needed to effectively communicate in today's modern society."

"Small Islands Voice is most pleased to be able to assist in this effort."

This is the third phone/fax/copier donated by Small Islands Voice this year with Mangaia College and Tamarua School on Mangaia having been presented with theirs last month.

In accepting the phone/fax on behalf of his school, Principal Pepe expressed his appreciation and gratitude. "I have been needing one of these for a long time now. This will be a big help in both improving communication but also in saving time and petrol as now we can fax information instead of having to drive and deliver it. We wish to thank UNESCO Small Islands Voice and REAP for this much needed gift to our school."
