Climate
Change Art Competition 2004
Climate
change and its meaning to the children of today was the focus
of an art competition that ran in schools recently as part of
a campaign to increase awareness on the issue. The contest was
organised by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and encouraged
children to look at what individuals can do to lessen the impact
of climate change on our islands.
Winners:
Senior
art competition winners: 1st - Deana Paiti (Arorangi), 2nd
- Rachel Hockin (Te Uki Ou) and 3rd - Tuakana Mareroa (Avatea).
Consolation
prizes were awarded to Matangaro Rima (Arorangi), Pauline
Pickering (Avatea) and Russel Puna (Papaaroa).
Intermediate
art competition winners: 1st - Corrine Webb (Te Uki Ou), 2nd
- Lazaro Unuka (Takitumu) and 3rd - Anna Vinsen (Te Uki Ou).
Consolation
prizes were awarded to Natalia Short, Aylah Murray and Jade
Fraser from Te Uki Ou and Tuika Tini from St Josephs.
Junior
art competition winners: 1st - Te Rua Glassie (Rutaki), 2nd
- Stephanie Nooroa (Avatea) and 3rd - Sophie (Te Uki Ou).
Consolation
prizes were awarded to Rose Carrad (Te Uki Ou), Jordan Williams
(Rutaki) and Vanita Utia (Rutaki).

section of the competition.

Pauline
Pickering from Avatea Primary School was awarded a consolation
prize in the senior section of the competition.
