Youth-based activities
in Fiji
- Youth from
Fiji successfully complete a Youth
Visioning for Island Living project that focuses on strengthening
the Youth Parliament Alumni, as well as undertaking community
clean-ups and HIV/AIDS awareness activities, Mar '06
- Students
from Rakiraki High School prepare a theme article on the subject
'Money
in my pocket - economic and employment opportunities' (username
view and password only) for the Small Islands Voice Youth Internet
Forum
- Students
from Drasa Secondary
School in the Western Division of Viti Levu and All
Saints Secondary School in Vanua Levu join the Small Islands
Voice Youth Internet Forum
- Youth groups
in Raiwaqa, Navosai, Verata, Sigatoka, Lautoka and Labasa that
are committed to the concept of 'Clean
X' (clean school, clean market place, clean village, clean
church, clean hospital etc.) plan to work on solid waste and
water management projects. These will be low investment projects.
- Students
from three Fiji schools: Rakiraki Public High School, Rakiraki;
Nadi Muslim College, Nadi; Assemblies of God High School, Suva,
benefited through participation in the Small Islands Voice internet-based
youth forum in 2003
- Young people
from communities in Suva, Lautoka and Labasa took part in environmental
outreach Open Days
in August-September 2003, to discuss environmental issues and
problems and to plan appropriate actions
- Youth in
Fiji are taking part in
UNESCO's Digital Arts project to explore their urban environment
and facilitate their involvement in community development
- Students
from Raki Raki Public High School prepare an article on drinking
water quality (see http://www.sivyouth.org/?read=149

on the Small Islands Voice youth forum
