Inter-regional conference
calls
Every one
to two months a conference call is arranged so that Small Islands
Voice' coordinators from the different regions can talk to each
other and provide updates on the various activities taking place
in their islands, as well as identify and discuss emerging issues.
A list of items to be covered during each call is circulated by
e-mail about a week prior to the call. Each call usually lasts
for about an hour. Because of the different time zones involved,
participants from the Caribbean have to get up very early in the
morning to take part, while in the Pacific, the opposite is the
case as participants have to stay up late at night.
During the
29th October, 2002
inter-regional conference call, participants had the opportunity
to discuss activities and future plans with the Seychelles Small
Islands Voice Steering Committee. The Palau Coordinating Committee
regularly takes part in each inter-regional conference call.
