Cultural Reconciliation among Lebanese University Students “Youth Empowerment for Cultural Rights”

This project is primarily aimed at assisting the Government of Lebanon in its efforts to develop Lebanese society taking due account of its cultural diversity and the crucial need for mutual understanding. To this end, the project seeks to develop opportunities for intercultural dialogue between 300 university students from 7 universities and to empower youth to understand and promote the importance of cultural diversity, tolerance and dialogue irrespective of religious or political affiliation. In this project, UNESCO will be building on a long-standing experience in intercultural dialogue worldwide and, more specifically, on a recent project successfully implemented by the National Commission of Lebanon and targeting school children.
Selected Lebanese university students will be provided with skills, methods and opportunities to practise and disseminate the concepts of the right of others to be different, intercultural dialogue and national reconciliation.
