ASEAN-Korea Arts Community Project

The ASEAN-Korea Traditional Music Orchestra project is the result of a proposal made by both ASEAN and Korea to create an orchestra based on the traditional musical instruments of all 11 countries involved. This proposal was made with the aim of discovering the endless possibilities and imaginative power of traditional Asian music. The orchestra is going to use the Asian Culture Complex, which is scheduled to be built in Gwangju in 2014, as its main stage for activities. The performance in May 2010 will be particularly meaningful, as the orchestra will perform for the Heads of all ASEAN countries and Korea.
