Music and Peace Ambassadors

“Music and Peace Ambassadors” created a unique global meeting space that brought together young musicians representing different musical cultures and young peace activists from diverse geographic regions where human security is at risk. From 7 – 13 August 2010, at the newly established Dag Hammerskjöld Center in Oslo, Norway, an interactive study program consisting of seminars, workshops and concerts explores cultural values and practices, and specifically, the role of music in the context of peace and human rights, and prepares participants for their one-year tenure as Music and Peace Ambassadors. Full scholarships will be provided and leading experts from the Oslo Nobel Peace Center and others from the fields of peace and security studies, international relations, human rights, cultural policy and music were invited to facilitate discussions and lead musical activities. Activities conducted throughout the world during the Ambassadorships will be documented and communicated on a dedicated website.
