Theatre piece "The Orientations Trilogy"

The Orientations Trilogy will be a new piece of theatre, devised and performed by artists from India, China and the EU, working in collaboration. This production will explore gender issues in both Western and Asian cultures through a wide range of artistic forms, both traditional and contemporary. The Trilogy as a whole will form a complex amalgam of theatre, video, contemporary dance, ballet, opera and traditional Asian forms. These will be used to examine the changing nature of European and Asian identities, and gender identities, in the changing globalised world of the 21st century.

This project develops and builds on established collaborations between Border Crossings (UK) and partner organisations in India and China. This project will build on existing work to create a Trilogy of plays, and perform them in Europe and China.

As well as creating and performing the Trilogy, we also intend to publish a book including the scripts and related articles and to mount an extensive participation and learning programme.
