Project "Structural Art in New York - Arte Estructural en Nueva York"

Structural Art in New York is a studies tour to the city of New York organised by the Building Teaching Unit of the Department of Construction Engineering of the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia in Spain. The tour brings a group of Spanish students and professors of civil engineering to US and aims to:
1) Show how the best works of Structural Engineering can become pieces of art when they combine efficiency, economy and elegance.
2) Show how these works are usually the result of the collaboration between people of different countries. For example, the Brooklyn Bridge was designed by a German engineer and built by US citizens as well as by workers from many other countries.
3) Teach about different building cultures.
4) Teach about how bridges and buildings contribute to “destroy” natural borders and bring people closer.
5) Promote academic exchange activities with students and professors of several US universities.
