Communication for Peace: conference and workshop

The director of the UNESCO Centre in Castilla-La Mancha Fernando Redondo Benito has actively promoted culture for peace and communication for peace as main objectives for the School of Communication of the Autonomous university of San Luis Potosi where, invited by the director of the school of communication Ana Isabel Mendes Ortiz, he highlighted "the strength of speech and the value of communication to urgently operate a necessary transition from a culture of war to a culture of peace".
In the 21st Century Redondo Benito has reminded us that we are living "open and complex moments that are challenging and overwhelming because of uncertainty", which is why communication for peace must contribute "feeding from diversity weaving from dialogue and inspiring from knowledge".
The two activities that took place in the framework of the International Year were:
a) Development of the workshop on "The Dynamics of Social Networks" which targeted the professors and academicians of the School of Communication of the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosi (Mexico), with the objective of transmitting those dynamics to the citizenship and social movements.
b) A conference on "Communication for the 21st Century and Culture for Peace"
